Reflection #3

It has been different because in Ramadan I always hang out with my friends for iftar and suhoor but this year it’s harder. It’s difficult to do that because you don’t know who your friends are seeing or interacting with. Since we’re immigrants we don’t have a lot of family here and we were used to my grandma travelling here for Ramadan. This year she can’t come over because airports are locked and she has a chronic disease that lowers her immunity system so we don’t want her interacting or seeing new people. For the only family we have in Egypt, we have been interacting with them even before Ramadan. That’s because we both have been quarantined for more than two months. We invited them over on the first day for iftar and they had to sleepover because of the curfews. For decorations, we have put them up on our balconies and even have put a few things around the house. For restaurants, we rarely ate outside in Ramadan even when we hung out with friends for iftar and suhoor we always ate at their houses. I have felt change in one aspect and that is we are not going out and seeing the streets with all the decorations and staying outside till the morning just hanging out. Other than that Ramadan is pretty much the same and nothing can affect my excitement towards it
